Three local schools have taken part in this creative and exciting project, using the power of time travel to explore and learn about different historical periods, using art and performance.
The Project was created to inspire different approaches to education, working with children in unconventional ways, using performance, art and music to engage with their school topics.
The Schools involved were Christchurch C of E Primary School, Trumacar Primary School, and Morecambe bay Community Primary School, and each school produced a wealth of art work based on Iron Age Celts, The Romans and World War Two Britain.
The finale of the project was hosted at Lancaster University on 19th March in which 81 time travellers prepared unique plays about their period of History. Fantastic performances educated the audience on topics such as the story of Romulus and Remus, Celtic Warriors who ate dogs, and evacuated children from the 1940s!
The event was a fantastic way to celebrate a successful 2012 Creative Arts Project, which included events on two themes, beginning with ‘Wild World’, an exploration of the natural environment, followed by ‘Time Travelers’ in the second half of the term. The project has engaged a total of 5 schools this year and inspired over 200 pupils to discover new and inventive ways of approaching and enjoying their education.
