The Citizens Advice service is one of the largest volunteer organisations in the UK with over 20,000 volunteers. The Citizens Advice service provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. The twin aims of the Citizens Advice service are to provide the advice people need for the problems they face; and to improve the policies and principles that affect people’s lives.
The CAB have a number of roles available:
- Gateway Advisors – working face to face with clients providing a triage advice service. You will receive Level One Advice and Guidance training. Further training and development is available for those committing longer term
- Casework support – working with specialist casework advisers to help with administrative file management in areas like housing, debt, employment, benefits
- Social Policy Work – identifying social policy issues, both locally and nationally. Lobby local and national governments and draft proposals. Publicise social issues and successful outcomes
