Furniture Matters

Furniture matters is one of the biggest and most successful local social enterprises, that recycles furniture, white good and computers to be resold and given to disadvantaged local people. This successful social enterprise benefits people, planet and profit and has also started to generate its own power.  This may be of interest in itself and would certainly be a great interview talking point.

There is a variety of opportunities available at Furniture Matters for volunteers, depending on your own interests and targets for skills development:

  • Support Worker

Placement Details: To work alongside fellow volunteers to support them to achieve within the workplace.

Duties include: Working one to one with a fellow volunteer or with a small group of volunteers, being involved in writing needs analysis, individual learning plan and assessing progression for fellow volunteers

  • Volunteer Trainer

Placement Details: To deliver and support in house and accredited training as agreed / able at Furniture Matters sites and to our partners

Duties include: Lesson planning, creating training materials, assisting other trainers in delivery of training including Open College North West (OCNW) courses, CTC Bikeability Cycle Training, Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (C.I.E.H.) courses. Delivering in house training in warehousing, basic health and safety.
