Placements

LUSU involve external placements offers students the chance to gain volunteering experience working in the local community. This is ideal for those with specific career goals who want to get ahead of the crowd with real experience in there chosen area. Placements also suit those who simply want to offer some of there free time for a good cause. Whatever your motivation we have a wide range of opportunities including working with vulnerable adults, museums or even retail. There is also our in house award winning SAFE project that works in partnership with Lancashire Constabulary.

The opportunities we offer have been accessed for quality and safety and expenses are covered if you volunteer through us. Placements can be applied for throughout the year, but to maximise your experiences you should get involved as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

One off events

SAFE Christmas party 2009 in the Great Hall – You could be on the event management team!

We also organise one off volunteering events every term. These are ideal for those people who are short of time but still want some experience of volunteering. Past events have included IT support at Lancaster library, and helping young people make a short video.  Keep checking the website or contact James for more information on forthcoming events.

All of the volunteering with LUSU involve counts towards acheiving the Lancaster Award. The University has more information about the Lancaster Award
