The look on a child’s face when they finally understand something, or when they are doing something fun whilst learning something new is amazing — Luke Demetri, primary school events volunteer

This project is now full

As a Language Buddy Buddy, you will be working with  children to help them progress their abilities in reading, writing and speaking in a foreign language. Engaging pupils in the value and fun of learning a language will also be a key role of a volunteer.

Some roles will enable you to support a child who is learning English as a second language. You bilingual skills will be instrumental in helping that pupil adapt to life in a setting where English is the primary language.

Working with pupils individually and in small groups, you will meet them regularly and encourage a diverse and exciting approach to leaning languages. This results in an extremely positive and rewarding experience, forming a strong bond with the children you help. Not many volunteering oportuinties allow you to see the impact you are having so obviously.
